*Please note that the map is indicative and does not contain accurate locations.

Please note:

On this tour you have three biking days – Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Choose three of these route options.

Option 1
Copenhagen to Snekkersten/ Helsingør. Approx. 50 km/32 US Miles.
(Train back from Helsingør to Copenhagen)

Biking through Copenhagen is a fantastic tour start. You will follow the cycle path along the coastline enjoying the magnificent view to Sweden, passing the Little Mermaid and the Queen’s residence, Amalienborg. Enjoy the sight of the fashionable houses and pass by the famous beach “Bellevue” before continuing to Dyrehaven, the Royal hunting grounds, with century old trees and herds of deer. Located here is also “Bakken”, the oldest amusement park in the world. In Rungsted you pass Karen Blixen’s house and museum, “Rungstedlund” and in Humlebæk you can take a look at the Museum of Modern Art “Louisiana”, or make lunch and coffee stops at the marinas along the route overlooking the water.

You will end up in Helsingør. Take the train back to Copenhagen.

Note: Rungstedlund is closed on Mondays except in July/ August. Louisiana is always closed on Mondays.

Option 2
(Train from Copenhagen to Helsingør)
Helsingør to Hillerød. Approx. 41-51 km / 25-32 US Miles.
(Train back from Hillerød to Copenhagen)

Today you can visit two of the most beautiful Danish castles. In Helsingør you have the impressive Kronborg Castle (renowned from Shakespeare’s play Hamlet) and the historical city centre. The route north out of Helsingør is unique with its views to the Swedish coast only 4 kms away. You start along the coast to Hornbæk, a small shing village with tempting places for ”time outs” and a sea bath. Thereafter you bike along one of the deepest lakes in Denmark towards Hillerød. If you want to visit the Queen’s summer residence Fredensborg Castle, you can extend the tour with approx. 10 km/6 US miles. Take a walk in the park if the Queen is not there. It is a beautiful “fairy tale palace” from the 18th century with a unique interior. On your arrival to Hillerød, you go along the lake to Frederiksborg Castle with its perfect location at the lakeside.

You will end up in Hillerød. Take the train back to Copenhagen.

Option 3
(Train from Copenhagen to Roskilde)
Roskilde to Copenhagen. Approx. 45 km/28 US miles.

On this route you will go to the coast side while approaching Copenhagen from southwest. You will ride through picturesque villages to the beaches south of the capital. A path takes you along the coast, away from the traffic, all the way to the centre of Copenhagen. Along the way you will pass “Arken” – a museum of modern art, the island “Amager” with the Freetown Christiania (a self-proclaimed autonomous neighbourhood), Christianshavn and several interesting architectural sights along the canal between Zealand and the island Amager.

Option 4
(Train from Copenhagen to Hillerød)
Hillerød – Copenhagen. 38 km/24 US miles or 18 km/10 US miles + train.

Heading South towards Copenhagen you pass idyllic sceneries, lovely forests and wetlands with a rich birdlife. Impressed by the rich nature in a densely populated area close to the capital, you will be amazed how easy it is by bike to cycle from the green northern Zealand to the capital of Denmark. While the first 18 kilometres towards Farum are on winding paths and smaller roads, the last 20 kilometres are along the new ”supercykelsti” (Super cycle path), that brings all the commuting cyclists to Copenhagen. When you come to Nørrebro, which is one of the most colourful neighbourhoods in Copenhagen, you have to slow down and be aware of all the different cyclists heading towards the city centre.
